Happy Thanksgiving and a reminder about this coming Saturday.

Brethren,

What an outstanding degree we had last night! What a great event, as our newest Brother started out!

First off – Happy Thanksgiving to all! We have much to be thankful for! We can thank The Great Architect for every breath we are granted. We can be thankful for our families, both near and far, who love us unconditionally. We can be thankful for our work, both that which we are paid for and those labors of love with which we’ve been blessed. We can be thankful for our fraternity which allows us to come together as brothers in peace and harmony. We can be thankful for our communities which offer opportunities to serve the greater good of mankind. Finally, we can be thankful for ourselves; for our sound minds that are always seeking light, for the strength in our bodies that lets us toil in the quarries, and for our openness to a relationship with our creator. We are all blessed!

This Saturday we will be decorating the Lodge Christmas tree, and I’d like to ask all of you to think about bringing an ornament with you to add to the tree. This is an event for all – so bring your families with you! We’ll have some pancakes starting at 8 A.M. with some holiday music playing in the back ground and afterward we’ll start trimming that tree!

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Eric

Our Junior Past Master has agreed to confer, Affiliated Past Master Doc Waters has agreed to deliver the lecture, and I will be the Senior Deacon. I know Bro. I would especially like to stress to the other Entered Apprentices that you are welcome to and highly encouraged to participate in these degrees. There are places where you can participate that don’t require tons of additional memory work.

Veterans Day and Stated Meeting

Brethren,
First off, to those who have served this great Country – thank you. Without you, the freedom we enjoy could not be preserved. You have stood in the face of ultimate peril willing to sacrifice all, knowing many who did, so that the world at large might be a safer and freer place. Again, thank you.

Our Stated Meeting will be tomorrow evening. We have much to discuss. Grand Lodge is right around the corner and as per usual there are certain things on the docket that will have a direct influence on Blue Lodge operations. We need to vet these subjects and determine our course of voting action. We will also need to elect a proxy should we have to have a backup.

If you plan on attending Grand Lodge make sure you preregister http://grandlodgeoftexas.org/pdf/2013/2013%20Pre-registration%20form.pdf

My reading this week took me back across the wonderful works of Thomas Carlyle, and in particular, his poignant statements “grand business undoubtedly is, not to see what lies dimly at a distance, but to do what lies clearly at hand.” and “The weakest living creature, by concentrating his powers on a single object, can accomplish something. The strongest, by dispensing his over many, may fail to accomplish anything. The drop, by continually falling, bores its passage through the hardest rock. The hasty torrent rushes over it with hideous uproar, and leaves no trace behind.”

Look forward to seeing you tomorrow night. We will open an EA Lodge. Officers – coat and tie.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Eric

Tonight and this week at Garland Masonic Lodge

Brethren,

Apologies for being late with this update. This evening we will be setting up the Lodge building for tomorrow night’s event. Much to get done. Tomorrow evening will be the Feast of Tishri. Our guest speaker will be the Ill. Dr. S. Brent Morris G:.C:. – American Author and Editor of the Scottish Rite Journal. You do not need to be a Scottish Rite Mason to attend Dinner will be a donation of $10 with proceeds going to the Garland DeMolay boys to help cover their expense for Government Day in Austin. Saturday – Bro. Senior Warden has organized a work day beginning at 8 AM. As you read in his preceding email there is much to do at the Lodge and there is no better way to build friendship and Brotherly love than by coming together to improve our Lodge. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Eric
