Open House at the Lodge this week

Brethren,

Tuesday night we are having an Open House. Dinner will be at 6 PM – Bring a friend, and you both will eat for free. At 7 PM we will begin a “tour” starting in the Lodge room – where our guests will find 4 presentations. In the South Brother Junior Warden will have a 5 minute presentation on the History of Masonry. In the West Brother Senior Warden will have a 5 minute presentation on the philanthropic nature of Masonry. In the North Brother Senior Deacon will have a 5 minute presentation on the Philosophy of Freemasonry. The Worshipful Master will have a 5 minute presentation regarding degree fees, annual dues, time commitments involved, and most importantly, the fact that no one can ever ask you to become a Mason – that it must be of your own free will and accord. In the dining area Brother Secretary will have petitions available to any man who chooses to ask for one. Then the tour can continue between friends and last as long as you so choose. The best way to make sure that you have a friend with you is to pick them up on the way. Your friend can be a relative (Brother, Father, Son), a coworker, someone you go to church with, your wife’s best friend’s husband/brother/father/son – etc., etc..

Wednesday Night – MWSA at AC Garrett (Party Hall next door) Dinner will be at 6:30 PM the meeting will start at 7:30 PM this month’s meeting will be Dallas Police Officer of the Month Award. If you, or anyone you know is in Law Enforcement this will be a great meeting to attend. MWSA meetings are open to all. You do not have to be a Mason to attend. Bring a spouse, bring a friend. Come out and help support our Law Enforcement Officers.

Saturday – First day of the Fall Reunion for the Scottish Rite. If you’re not a Scottish Rite Mason my only question is: Why not?

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Eric

This week’s schedule

Tonight, September 3rd, we will be treated to a special presentation by Bro. Chris Williams of the Texas Masonic Education and Service Committee. He will talk about the role of Masons in the formation of Texas and the United States.

Afterward we will have a open forum discussion of the problems that face Garland Masonry and how we can go about rectifying those situations. Our objective is creating the strongest Lodge possible by recognizing our membership issues, proactively addressing our financial challenges down the road, and defining what it is that makes a Lodge, and where that happens. We all have ideas, let’s get them on the table so that, over the course of time, they can be vetted and implemented in a positive fashion.

Tomorrow night, September 4th, will be a special evening at AC Garrett for our very own Bro. Tom Beane. Bro. Beane is a Past Master of AC Garrett and will be presenting the Lodge with a Bible that was given to a Brother the year Bro. Beane served as Master (1963/64) – this is a 50 year keepsake that will be placed under glass at AC Garrett for prosperity’s sake.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Eric Stuyvesant
Worshipful Master, Garland #441

Tuesday Night – Strategic Planning and Study Group

Brethren,

Tomorrow evening I’d like to have a couple of planing sessions. The first regarding Pete Sessions visit and the second regarding Hope Clinic.
Afterward we will take some time to study for an upcoming forum and exam.

I will get together an agenda and send it out later this evening so that we can work through these planning sessions efficiently.

Look forward to seeing many of you there.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Eric

An Evening with Congressman Pete Sessions at #441 –

Brethren,

On September 3, 2013 the Honorable Pete Sessions will join us at Garland #441 for what should prove a memorable evening.
Mr. Sessions will join us for dinner which will be served at 6 PM – at 6:30 PM Brother Chris Williams of the Masonic Education and Service Committee will present a talk on the importance Masonry served in the formation of Texas. Afterward, Mr. Sessions will present a flag to the Lodge which was flown over the Capitol building in Washington on July 4th of this year, and then will address those in attendance with what he sees as his greatest concerns and challenges in Washington. There will then be a question and answer period which should focus on how we, as Men and Masons, may be of assistance to the Congressman as he struggles to shape future policy.

This will be an open meeting and you encouraged to bring spouses and those men who have asked about our Fraternity in the past, but please keep a close eye on the West Gate. Passions must be subdued, and peace and harmony must prevail.

I look forward to a full house.

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Eric Stuyvesant
