Calendar This Week

this Tuesday, June 11, 2013, is the last Stated Meeting of this Masonic Year, and as such, is Officer Election Night. You will be electing YOUR officers for the ensuing Masonic Year, namely the Worshipful Master, Senior and Junior Wardens, Treasurer and Secretary. Election night is always well attended, so come early and spend some time socializing with many of the Brothers whom you may not have seen in a while.
We will also be awarding our two high school Scholarships during Refreshment shortly after opening Lodge and calling it from Labor. It is a privilege to be able to award these scholarships to college-bound Seniors, and very rewarding to see and hear how much they appreciate our help.
Dinner will be served at 6:00PM. Our Stewards always try to anticipate how many will dine with us, but there is always a chance that there will be more than expected. So you’ll want to arrive for dinner earlier than 6:00PM to ensure that you aren’t one of the stragglers that misses out on a great meal!!
We open Lodge at 7:00PM sharp.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night and sitting in the East one last time as your Worshipful Master.

Widows Honor Banquet, Past Masters Dinner, Awards Night

Brethren and Friends,
Last night’s dinner and celebration at Garland Lodge was a rousing success and a great time. We were able to honor many of our Masonic Ladies, present three Masonic Service Awards, and recognize several Past Masters, Affiliated Past Masters and even some visiting Past Masters. Past Grand Master of Masons in Texas Right Worshipful Reese Harrison, Jr. was in attendance and presented a 70 Year Masonic Service Award to a very dear friend of his. Right Worshipful Michael Wiggans presented a 50 Year and a 60 Year Award as well.

It was a wonderful evening seeing old friends, Brothers, and Sisters; of sharing stories and Masonic history; but especially an evening of showing Brotherly Love and Affection. It’s events like these that remind me of the unique and wonderful power of our Fraternalism that I wish the whole world could enjoy.

Thanks to all the committee members, stewards, servers, greeters, and everyone else who worked so diligently for the past few weeks in organizing and making last night happen.

I look forward to next year’s event, and being part of the honored group of Past Masters.
